The Untitled Deadpool Sequel is moving up its scheduled release date. The film was originally scheduled to debut on June 1, 2018.

However, Ryan Reynolds announced the movie will now hit theaters on May 18, 2018.

Along with the announcement, Reynolds included a shot of Deadpool’s signature katana swords named after Golden Girls actress Bea Arthur

The Untitled Deadpool Sequel is expected to be even better than the first film with even more action!

Josh Brolin, who plays Cable in the upcoming sequel, teased

I heard somewhere along the line that they felt the first Deadpool didn’t have enough action. […] With this movie, it’s just a different deal.

It’s possible we might see an adaptation of the epic Deadpool vs Cable fight from X-Force #15 which made our Top 5 Deadpool fights of all time list!

Watch:

The movie will most likely feature time travel as it is one of Cable’s character defining qualities. In the comics, Cable is the daughter of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madelyne Prior (Jean Grey’s clone). He’s from a possible future timeline where he was transported to as an infant. He grew up to become a mighty warrior before returning to the present.

The Untitled Deadpool Sequel stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Josh Brolin as Nathan Summers/Cable, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al.

It’s quite possible the Untitled Deadpool Sequel will play into Fox’s upcoming New Mutants film as well. In the comics, Cable recruits the New Mutants to help him fight the Mutant Liberation Front. After taking on the Mutant Liberation Front with the help of Wolverine, Sunspot, and the New Mutants, Cable reorganizes the New Mutants into X-Force. Fox is currently developing an X-Force film that might feature a number of the New Mutants that will appear in this April’s upcoming horror film.

The Untitled Deadpool Sequel will now be hitting theaters on May 18, 2018!
